King Mahasiva belonged to a very important royal lineage of the Anuradhapura Kingdom. He was one of the many sons of King Mutasiva and the brother of prominent kings in Sri Lankan history, namely King Devanampiyatissa, King Uttiya, and King Asela. It is clear that this family connection contributed to maintaining political stability and power in the early period of Anuradhapura.
